About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Vagabond Bar + Kitchen, operated by 1842 Restaurant Company LLC ("Vagabond," "we," "us"), handles information when you visit vagabonddc.com, contact us online, or use our customer messaging services. Our restaurant is at 1836 18th Street NW, Washington, DC. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to contact@vagabonddc.com or directed to 202-629-1301.
Information you provide
When you contact us, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, phone number, message, requested event date and time, and party size. If you make a reservation, place an order, buy a gift card, or arrange an event, the relevant service may also collect booking, order, payment and guest-preference information.
Please do not send payment-card numbers, passwords, government identification numbers or other sensitive information through our general contact form or AI messaging. For food allergies or other important accommodation needs, speak directly with our team.
Website information and cookies
Our website and the services it uses can receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device information, pages viewed, referring pages, and interactions with website features. Cookies and similar technologies help provide website features, understand website use, and measure or support advertising.
The website includes Google Analytics, Google Ads and Meta Pixel. These tools can send information about your visit and interactions to Google or Meta and may use cookies or other identifiers. Those companies may combine information with other information they hold and use it under their own policies and your account settings, including for advertising measurement or personalization.
We do not upload customer lists to Google or Meta for advertising. This does not disable the website analytics and advertising technologies described above.
Learn about Google's handling of information from partner websites at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and Meta's practices at https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy/. You can manage browser cookies and review the advertising controls offered by Google and Meta. Blocking cookies or other technologies may affect website features. Browser controls and account settings do not necessarily stop every form of information collection.
How we use information
We use information to answer questions, manage reservations, orders and event inquiries, provide customer service, maintain business records, operate and improve our website, understand website activity, support and measure marketing, and address security, fraud or legal requirements. If you receive marketing emails from us, you can use the unsubscribe option in those emails or contact us about your preferences.
Service providers and third parties
We use service providers to host the website, process inquiries and communications, support reservations and transactions, and provide analytics and advertising services. The website is hosted on Webflow, includes Resy reservation features, and links to Toast ordering and gift-card services. These providers may receive information needed for their services. Information collected directly by a third-party service is also subject to that provider's privacy policy.
DCRG restaurants and customer engagement
We share guest information across DCRG restaurants for customer engagement and marketing. Other DCRG restaurants may use shared information for their own customer communications and marketing, not solely to provide services on Vagabond's behalf. We also use customer engagement and marketing platforms, including Loyalist, to manage guest information and support these activities. You can contact us about your marketing preferences and use the unsubscribe options provided in marketing emails. We do not send separate marketing text messages. Customer-initiated Google AI messaging, when available, is described below.
We may disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to address fraud, security issues, legal claims, or the rights and safety of our guests, staff and business.
AI customer messaging
When available, our Google Business Profile messaging service uses Google's RCS for Business platform and an AI agent to answer customer questions. If you choose to use it, your messages, contact information and related messaging information are processed by Vagabond, Google and participating messaging or carrier providers to deliver and support the conversation. Our team can review conversations and respond directly.
Google may review messages and related activity for security, spam prevention and compliance, and may process message contents to train its AI models for spam detection and prevention. Messages may be available to the carrier delivering them. Google's handling of information is also described in its Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
You can ask to speak with a person or contact the restaurant directly. To stop messages through Google's RCS service, send STOP or UNSUBSCRIBE. Sending a new message can reopen the conversation. Do not use this service for emergencies or to submit sensitive information.
Retention and security
How long we retain information depends on why it was collected, the services you request, applicable legal and recordkeeping requirements, and the need to resolve disputes. Third-party providers may retain information under their own policies. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your choices and requests
You may contact us at contact@vagabonddc.com to ask about the personal information we hold, request a correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern. Available rights depend on applicable law. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where permitted or required by law. For information controlled directly by a third-party service, you may also need to contact that service.
Children
Our online contact and messaging services are not intended for children under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information can contact us so we can review the request and take appropriate action.
Changes
We may update this policy as our services or practices change. The updated policy and its date will appear on this page.
